Reaching for the Stars.

So with the scores so close in both semi-finals there is all to play for this Saturday in Arsta. Let's hope the weather is kind to the players and spectators and we get a rugby bonanza.

Stockholm Exiles entertain their close rivals Enkoping and will be looking to build on their 2 point lead from the first match. The home side have been the best team in the country in the second half of the season and were unlucky not to end up as Elite league winners. Enkoping though have started to find the form of last year and with a backline full of stars are sure to feel that they can overcome their hosts. Both sides will want to be the first to put points on the board as that could well give them the impetus to move on and take the match. This is going to be a close match, if both sides are at full strength. We still feel that Exiles just have it in the forwards and take them to win a close and entertaining contest.

At the same venue, the league winners Hammarby, take on the underdogs from the West, Spartacus. Having lost a tight encounter in Partille the home side will want to exact their revenge. the visitors are not renowned travellers and have lost the 3 games they have played in the north conceding a number of points in those matches. Hammarby will be looking to repeat their recent home win over the visitors and will be confident of a comfortable win. Spartacus will have nothing to lose, as  they have done extremely well to have made it this far, and may well put in a powerful performance, but we take the home side to win, but only after a tough encounter. So a final between Exiles and Hammarby, the end result and a bonus for Swedish Rugby.

    I would like to encourage all swedish rugby supporters in Stockholm to come out and watch 2 great games of rugby today at Årsta. The four best rugby clubs in Sweden will be fighting it out to see which two of them go through to the SM.

    Both games will be very close and will ensure a fantastic day for all spectators.

    I wish the other 3 rugby clubs good rugby and good weather and may the best two sides win.

    It is just a shame that the Swedish Rugby Union are so narrow minded that they could not put the games on at different times so that all rugby supporters could watch both games. I guess it was too hard for somebody to pick up the phone and call the clubs. Instead we have four teams trying to pack into 2 dressing rooms at the same time, 4 teams trying to use the same grounds to warm up and all supporters having to choose between two games instead of enjoying both.

    This is just another example of how not to run an organisation.

    To assist the discriminate Exiles cyberbashers we have provided the necessary ammunition by comparing the starting lineups in todays clash of the titans, Exiles vs. Enköping.

    To the best of our knowledge the starting Enköping XV had:

    * 9 homegrown players*,
    * 4 players "recruited" from abroad, of which 2 have played at least 4 - 5 seasons for the club,
    * 2 players recruited from other Swedish clubs, of which 1 has played 5 seasons for the club.
    * 12 Sweden qualified players,
    * 11 players capped for Sweden and one for Lithuania,
    * 1 non-EU player.

    * This includes Jonny P, who despite technically initially playing for another club was literally born into Enköping.

    The starting Exiles XV had:

    * No homegrown players,
    * 15 players "recruited" from abroad, of which one has played 6 seasons for the club, one has played 5 seasons, two have played 3 seasons and one is in his second season. 10 are in their first season with the club.
    * No players recruited from other Swedish clubs,
    * 3 Sweden qualified players,
    * 3 players capped for Sweden and one for Spain,
    * 8 non-EU players (based on passport, not ethnic origin), of which one has qualified for Sweden, based on residence.

    Note that the term "recruited" includes love refugees, players who have come here for work reasons as well as players who have come here to play only.
